According to a study commissioned by the Brazilian Public Safety Forum and released on the 2nd, about 3 out of 10 women living in Brazil experienced some form of violence in 2022.
The two most common types of violence against women in the last 12 months are verbal violence (insults, humiliation or name-calling) and fear or stalking, reported by 23.1% and 13.5% of the women surveyed.

The study Visible and Invisible: Victimization of Women in Brazil heard 2017 people, including men and women, in 126 Brazilian municipalities from January 9 to 13, 2023. Projections show that more than 18 million women will be affected by some form of violence in 2022.
In addition to the two categories mentioned at the beginning of the report, victims also reported threats of being beaten, pushed or kicked (12.4%), beaten, pushed or kicked (11.6%), sexual crimes or attempted (9%), beating or strangulation attempt (5.4%).

Feminicides
The study shows that out of every ten cases of femicide, seven were committed by the victim’s partner or ex-partner in 2022.
Over the past year, the Security Observatory Network recorded 2,423 incidents of violence, meaning every four hours at least one woman was the victim of physical and verbal aggression, rape, torture, threats, false imprisonment or kidnapping in the seven states monitored. . Sao Paulo leads the rankings with 898 cases – one every ten hours.
In Santa Catarina, Observatorio Da Violência Contra A Mulher registered 56 cases in 2022 alone. In the same year, about 23,308 protective measures were requested, in January 2023 the number of requests is 2617.
