The port of Navegantes, on the north coast of Santa Catarina, has seen good times and promises that the situation will remain favorable. Land on the outskirts of the port of Navegantes was recently purchased by Portonave, the terminal’s operator.

The company claims that the situation is repeating itself. As opportunities arise to purchase land in the immediate vicinity of the company, they are evaluated and the purchase of plots is made or not.

There are speculations that the purchases will take place with a view to future expansion of the terminal, however the company did not provide more details on the specific motives for these acquisitions.

According to Portonave, the purchase of land was not a one-time thing, it was a process that lasted forever.

The company also claims that the value of the newly acquired land is within the normal range due to the appreciation of assets and real estate in the city as a whole.

The Portonave Bulletin does not provide further information about how much land was acquired, nor about the amounts invested in the purchase.

In recent months, the port of Navegantes has been collecting positive results. September 2022 recorded a new movement record in 15 years of operation.

Portonave gate access set the record for truck entry and exit with 2,600 entries in one day.

From January to September 2022, Portonave handled 487,000 containers. For the same period in 2021, there were 479 thousand containers, 8 thousand less.

September ended with the movement of 110.7 thousand TEU (a unit of measurement equivalent to a 20-foot container).

Also in September, Portonave was recognized as the best company in the south and 8th place in Brazil in the category “Transport, Logistics and Logistics Services”.

The rating was published in the Biggest and Best 2022 Awards edition of Exame magazine, one of the top business recognitions in the country.

In June, Portonave won first place in the 3rd edition of Portos+Brasil organized by MInfra (Ministry of Infrastructure) in the category “TUP/Container Traffic Growth”.

The award recognizes the best practices adopted by the country’s organized ports and the experts involved.
