The Santa Catarina Civil Police, through the Garuvah Police Station, arrested (3) this Wednesday afternoon four people suspected of insurance fraud, skilled recruitment, and embezzlement with ties to a crime ring operating in Joinville, Garuvah, and the upstate region.
A total of 15 police officers from four divisions participated in the operation, during which seven arrest warrants were issued at two addresses in Araquari, four in Joinville and one in Garouve.
Criminals committed thefts and insurance scams. The alleged victim delivered the cars, they drove them to Garouva, dismantled them and returned to Joinville with materials to be resold at an auto parts store where arrest warrants were issued for the four men. This is because the scientific police were called and found that at least four stolen items were in a store in the Iririu area.
When did the investigation start?
The delegate who led the operation, Eduardo Defaveri, says the investigation began in March of this year when police received information about suspected insurance fraud.
“When checking information with the insurance company, we saw that many things are not closed. Therefore, we are taking measures to identify possible sites of showdowns and persons involved in the crime, ”explains the delegate in charge of the investigation.
The police then established an address in Garuv where the car was being stripped.
“From here we understood that one of these persons was the owner of the car who was trying to carry out the coup. He lived in Araquari and had connections with other suspects who used electronic bracelets,” Defavery continues.
All of the suspects who were the subjects of the investigation were identified by the police and detained on Wednesday afternoon at an auto parts store.
