A sloth caught an ocelot in a fight deep in the Amazon rainforest. Rare evidence of the sloth, known for its slow and peaceful lifestyle, proves that the animal can also quickly defend itself against an ocelot attack.
The video, filmed with a hidden camera in the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve in eastern Ecuador, was published on the Live Science website. The researchers studied monkeys in the region and set up camera traps to capture the movements of the animals in the forest.
In the video, an ocelot tries to bite a sloth. The sloth does not let go and attacks with a set of claws. Then the animal crawls to the tree trunk. The ocelot does not seem to be satisfied and continues to attempt to attack the animal.
According to Live Science, observations like these help uncover the behavior of species that are rarely seen.
