The company was founded in Milan in 1924 and currently includes 96 participants from 71 countries and includes nearly 6,400 financial institutions and retail banks with a total of 2.1 million customers and $13.25 trillion in assets.

The new Social and Philanthropic Council was created as part of a meeting of the WSBI Board of Directors held in Marrakesh. last October. The establishment of the Social Philanthropy Council represents a step forward for WSBI and its members in their strategy to more responsible approach and socially conscious in the global financial landscape.

Besides Feine, German Helmut Schleweis, President of the Association of German Savings Banks, was appointed Honorary President of the Social Philanthropic Council. The appointments are subject to ratification by the WSBI Council, which will take place in the coming weeks.

La Caixa Foundation will explore forms of cooperation

The main functions of the new Council will be conduct and promote social work carried out by WSBI members, providing visibility to the organization’s social activities, strengthening its role and at the same time encouraging exchange experience and knowledgeand promote cooperation between members to develop joint initiatives.

Foundations affiliated with banks and thrifts affiliated with WSBI may serve on this Board. This is the case with the “la Caixa” Foundation, which will explore forms of cooperation with the WSBI through the Social and Charitable Council. In this way, La Caixa Foundation will foster new relationships with other foundations and international organizations that will join its extensive network of collaborators.
