In order to investigate the usurpation of coal and environmental crimes, the Federal Police, the Federal Ministry of State and the National Mining Agency launched an operation this Thursday at a coal company in Urussanga, in the south of Santa Catarina (21).
Materials collected for investigation of violations at the coal company
Federal agents have collected evidence on suspicion of involvement of an undisclosed company in environmental crimes.
The main purpose of the claim is to prove the fact of usurpation of coal, which is an asset belonging to the Union.
Environmental crimes are being investigated
Environmental crimes against flora, destruction of vegetation and preventing its natural regeneration, storage of substances hazardous to human health and operation of potentially polluting enterprises without permission from environmental authorities are also being investigated.
The crimes listed above are punishable by imprisonment for up to 19 years.
