Samae (Municipal Autonomous Water Supply and Sewerage Service) Blumenau announced this Wednesday (20) that it is investigating suspected criminal activity in the water supply network in the Itupawazinha area.
Crews are working to identify dark residue that came through the water supply into about 30 homes, the service said.
Samae investigates alleged environmental crime
The suspicion is that the case is an environmental crime, since, according to the samples collected, the waste found is similar to tar, that is, asphalt in liquid form.
Samae also emphasized that waste is not part of the products used in water production, nor in network maintenance. Samples were sent to the laboratory for complete waste identification.
The service said that in parallel with the investigation, they continue to prepare the necessary reports and will take appropriate measures.
Samae will visit all the houses to assess the damage and, if damage is proven, the municipality will compensate the residents.
