In an operation by the Federal Tax Service and the Military Police this Tuesday, more than 2 million reais worth of illegal products were confiscated in Indaial, in the Itajaí Valley (19). Counterfeit and smuggled alcoholic beverages, as well as anabolic steroids and electronic cigarettes, were seized.
The confiscation was made after a four-month investigation by the Federal Tax Service to find the place from which the clandestine products were supplied. This work was combined with the military police and, in addition to the confiscation of 2 million reais, led to the arrest of the business owner.
The deposit also contained several documents for a property recently purchased on the coast of Santa Catarina, as well as R$185,000 in cash.
What is the fate of counterfeit products?
According to the Federal Tax Service, the agency not only fights tax evasion, but also seeks to protect national industry and trade. The seized alcoholic beverages will be processed into alcohol gel and donated to hospitals in the region.
