This Friday morning, a 29-year-old driver (15) was arrested for transporting more than half a ton of marijuana on the BR-101 in Ararangua, in the south of Santa Catarina. The car had license plates from Araucaria, Paraná state.
According to the Federal Highway Police, after being ordered to stop, the driver ran out of the car. He tried to flee on foot through a cornfield but was arrested by police.
The GM/Prisma was towing a trailer. Bales of the drug were strewn between the seats of the car and the trailer, which was covered with a tarp. 28 packages with a total weight of 506.5 kg were found.
The man said that he would take the drug to Porto Alegre (RS). He was taken to the Ararangua police station and will be charged with drug trafficking.
