Secretary of State for Infrastructure Gerry Comper said during an exclusive interview with Grupo ND that he will carry out repairs to the Colombo Salles and Pedro Ivo Campos bridges in Florianópolis. The secretary stated that the work will continue even if it cannot meet the 90-day deadline set by the MPSC (Ministry of State of Santa Catarina) due to weather conditions.
The secretary also stated that in a meeting with the head of the 30th Prosecutor’s Office, Daniel Paladino, he reached an agreement on the possibility of building bridges in and out of the island of Santa Catarina.
“Of the seven issues that we have raised, three are being discussed through the mayor’s office with our mayor Topasio, and all the others are in line with the requirements of the public ministry,” he said.
Weather conditions may delay work, minister says
In an interview with SC no Ar, the minister detailed the damage caused by the rain to Santa Catarina’s highways and announced a loan from BNDES for the rehabilitation of public BRs.
Comper stressed that the biggest challenge for the work in Santa Catarina is the weather conditions, and that they could become an obstacle to repairing the bridges.
“It’s either rain, or drizzle, or cloudy. So you can see the level of anxiety that we have as a state, as Minister of Infrastructure, that we cannot get any work done, nothing.”
When asked whether any maintenance work would be completed within the time frame set by the MPSC, the secretary only assured that progress would be made within the period.
“I believe that within this 90-day timetable agreed with the Department of State, we will move forward. But always with great responsibility, within the framework of engineers who will give us safety and guarantee so that we can complete all the work,” he said.
The government of South Caucasus still does not know how much the work on the bridge will cost
The secretary said that since this is a civil work which is subject to engineering approval, the cost of repairing the bridges is yet to be determined.
“When we talk about the cost, I don’t have a specific or approximate cost, but it is a significant amount invested, an investment that the state government will make in the two bridges that the governor has already sanctioned,” he explained.
However, the minister said the state government must determine the cost of the investment this year.
