Civil police have released new details of a video in which a man attacked a woman in the courtyard of a gas station this Saturday (9) in Blumenau. The incident occurred in the Garcia area and a police investigation was launched.
According to delegate Felipe Orsi of the DPCAMI (Police Office for the Protection of Women, Children and Adolescents), the police investigation investigates crimes involving bodily harm, actual actions and damage. A man and a woman were located and called. Both are due to appear by this Thursday (14) to give evidence.
The attack was captured on video and the video was circulated on social media. Blumenau police authorities received the footage and began working to identify the suspect and victim since military police were not called to investigate the case.
The video shows a man in a police uniform leaving the establishment and pulling the woman by the arm. After the attacker and victim approached the motorcycle, he threw the helmet hard to the ground. Other men, presumably gas station employees, watched without reacting.
The woman then bends down and the man pulls her hair. The man starts kicking the motorcycle, takes the helmet, slams it on the ground several times, and then throws the accessory into the wall. The video does not show the result of the attack.
The attack sparked riots and outrage among authorities
Mayor Mario Hildebrandt (Podemos) posted a video commenting on the situation. “As a man, it makes me sad that there are still men in our society who commit such atrocities against women. This type of violence, this type of action deserves all our disgust and indignation.”
Deputy State Delegate Egidio Ferrari (PTB-SC) also commented on this case on social networks. According to the parliamentarian’s publication, the suspect is an employee of the gas station, and the woman is believed to be his wife.
