A headless and limbless corpse found on a beach in Balneario Barra do Sul, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina, has yet to be identified. The body discovered on Sunday (10) was in a state of advanced decomposition, making identification difficult.
For this reason, IML (Institute of Medical Sciences) must conduct an anthropological study within approximately 10 days). The body will be taken to Florianópolis, where examination will be carried out.
According to IML, some families spontaneously contacted the agency to identify the victim. This will require genetic comparison, which will only happen after anthropological research.
It is the research that will serve as the basis for “filtering” possible families to which the victim may belong. Families will be selected and invited for DNA testing, which may ultimately determine whose body was found.
The body was near the school
The body was found on the beach near the school in the city center at about 9:30 am. It is suspected that the body arrived at a place that was carried away by the current.
The victim was in an advanced stage of decomposition and several limbs had been torn off, including feet, hands and even his head.
