Political and business officials are back at the negotiating table for a highway parallel to BR-101 on the state’s northern coast. The meeting took place on Monday afternoon (11) at the headquarters of the DNIT (National Department of Transport Infrastructure) in Florianópolis.
The so-called “Coastal Corridor” would create a highway parallel to BR 101, passing through the interior of coastal cities and using existing state roads. Research on the project began during the administration of Governor Carlos Moises (Republicans).
The idea is that the new highway starts in Joinville and extends to the contour of the Greater Florianópolis road in Biguaça.
Feasibility study of the road
The technical, economic and environmental feasibility study (EVTEA) has been divided into five lots and is being reviewed by the State Secretariat for Infrastructure. Collectively, investments in the projects amount to approximately R$9.6 million.
The goal is that the future highway, in addition to relieving heavy traffic on BR-101, will also pave the way for a new development axis with investments in the surrounding area.
The president of Fetrancesc (Federation of Freight Transport Companies of the State of Santa Catarina), Dagnor Schneider, said that it is necessary to give rhythm to this issue and called for the mobilization of organized civil society together with the executive and legislative branches. , in favor of this strategic project for Santa Catarina.
State Deputy Antidio Lunelli (MDB) attended the meeting and stressed that this parallel highway will ensure smoother and safer traffic. He promised to coordinate with the state, the Union and organizations to make the work viable.
Infrastructure Minister Gerry Comper has assured that the new highway will remain in the State Government’s plans. DNIT Santa Catarina Regional Superintendent Alisson Rodrigo de Andrade supported the organization’s efforts to join forces.
