The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro arrested last Sunday (10) a suspect in the rape and murder of the 4-year-old girl Kemilly Hadassa Silva in Nova Iguazu, in Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro. The child disappeared on December 9, and the cousin confessed to the murder.
Hadassah’s body was found on the edge of a ditch, in a bag of dog food, near the home of the victim’s mother’s cousin. 22-year-old Reynaldo Rocha Nascimento quickly became the main suspect in the case.
He was taken to the police station, where he admitted that he had raped the child and, fearing that someone would hear the victim’s screams, ended up hanging the girl to death.
Hadassah case: how the murder happened
Kemilly slept at home with two of his four brothers, one 7 years old and the other 8 years old. Suellen, the children’s mother, went to a party around 11:00 pm and returned home to not find her daughter. She quickly called the police.
After some searching, Camilli’s body was found near the home of Suellen’s cousin, who lived on the same property as her. The body was in a ditch, inside a bag of dog food.
The neighbors quickly became suspicious of Reynaldo. According to civilian police, angry residents tried to kill the suspect, who was taken away from the scene by authorities.
Upon arrival at the police station, the offender admitted that he waited for the victim’s mother to leave before committing the rape. He would hang the girl to death so that no one would hear her screams.
Camilli was the only daughter of Suellen, who has four other children aged 2, 7, 8 and 9. “My dream was to throw a party for her 15th birthday. I’ve been raising her alone for four years now. I asked God a lot for her to be born. Her brothers cry a lot,” Suellen said.
