A criminal group investigated for theft from companies in Blumenau and the region was arrested early this Sunday morning (10) during a civilian police operation with the assistance of the investigative sector of the 1st police station of the municipality of DTCA (Traffic and Crime Police Station ), Environmental), DPS (Police Duty Center) and DIC (Criminal Investigation Department) and Military Police.
A total of five members of the organization were arrested. The criminals were caught stealing a shipment of cables and copper wires from an electrical materials distributor in Indaial, Vale do Itajaí.
In addition to the arrest at the crime scene, police recovered cables and copper wires worth R$400,000, as well as a car stolen in Itapema, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina. The total cost of the group’s crimes is estimated at 4 million reais and is the subject of other investigations.
This is the second seizure of a copper cargo carried out by the Civilian Police Investigations Branch. In total, about 1 million reais have already been seized. The investigation continues to identify all participants in the criminal group.
