CBMSC (Military Fire Service of Santa Catarina) rescued a dog after being attacked by bees this Sunday morning (10) in San José, in Greater Florianopolis.
Dog rescued from bee attack
The CBMSC team was called at around 11:44 am to help a dog injured by bees in a house located on Rua João Isidio de Souza, in the Serraria area.
According to the fire department, the pet’s owner explained to agents at the scene that the dog was attacked by bees from a beehive located in the rear of the home’s backyard.
The man told firefighters he tried to get closer to help the dog but was unable to do so.
The team carried out the rescue using protective suits specially designed for beekeepers, as beekeepers are called.
CBMSC said the animal victim of the bee attack was already very weakened when it was treated and that smoke had to be used to disperse some of the insects from the area.
The dog was removed from the scene and needs veterinary care. CBMSC instructed the owner to isolate the yard and wait for the crew to return to remove the bees from the perimeter.
