A China Eastern Airlines flight en route from Shanghai Hongqiao to Hong Kong experienced an engine failure during the flight. As a result, strong vibration was felt in the cabin, which is not uncommon for such phenomena, but does not, however, pose an immediate threat to flight safety.
The aircraft, flight number MU721 and model Airbus A330-300, was safely diverted and landed in Xiamen, Fujian Province at 9:59 am this Saturday (2) for further inspection.
After the aircraft malfunction was announced, China Eastern Airlines took immediate measures to ensure the safety of the flight. The crew followed the procedures outlined in the aircraft’s operating manual.
The captain decided to direct the flight to Xiamen, where the engine and fuselage were thoroughly inspected. The airline stressed its commitment to providing excellent customer service and assured passengers that their travel plans will be processed as quickly as possible.
In a statement, China Eastern Airlines deeply regretted any inconvenience caused to passengers on the affected flight.
