Denis Piccoli Ramos, the son-in-law of former doctor Roger Abdelmassih, was killed in a shootout involving three armed men and a policeman. He was back home with his wife Soraya Gilardi when the crime occurred.
The attention of the criminals was attracted by the BMW motorcycle on which Denis was riding, worth more than 80,000 reais. Three robbers were riding on two motorcycles and started shooting as the businessman waited to enter his apartment.
The case occurred on Sunday afternoon (26) in the Morumbi area, South Zone of São Paulo. The shooting attracted the attention of an off-duty military police officer who was walking nearby. According to the police report, he heard the sound of gunshots and “decided to stop and intervene.”
The businessman was hit in the chest and did not resist
During the shootout, the businessman was wounded in the chest, he was saved by family members, but he died before reaching the hospital. Three suspects were also shot, one of whom died instantly.
Soraya Gilardi, the daughter of Roger Abdelmassih, a convicted serial rapist, told police she noticed her husband speed up even more, “as if he was running away from something.” She ducked when she heard the shots, and he was wounded and could not resist.
Among the motorcycles used by the criminals, one has already been stolen. Police are investigating what weapon was used to fire the shot that killed the businessman. The case was registered at the 34th Vila Sonia Police Station and will be investigated by the State Department of Criminal Investigations (DEIC).
Who was Roger Abdelmassih
Roger Abdelmassih is a former Brazilian doctor and specialist in human reproduction. A serial rapist, he was sentenced to 278 years in prison for 52 rapes and four attempts.
The case shocked Brazil because Roger sexually abused his patients. He first entered the prison system in August 2009.
At the end of October, a Sao Paulo court rejected the former doctor’s defense request to transfer him under “humanitarian house arrest.”
