Young Leila Karina Moreira Teles, 23, was stabbed to death by a neighbor last Thursday (16) in the Floramar area of ​​Belo Horizonte. According to investigators, the suspect was annoyed by the Samu ambulance, which was treating the victim’s grandmother.

Neighbor Mauro Lucio Pinheiro, who stabbed Leila Moreira, was reportedly annoyed by the presence of Samu’s ambulance on the street, which he said was obstructing traffic on the road. The family denies that there was no room for other vehicles to pass. Leila died after receiving stab wounds to her left arm, stomach, ribs and heart area.

Young woman’s grandmother undergoing palliative treatment

According to the family, doctors diagnosed the victim’s grandmother with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease that degeneratively affects the nervous system and gradually leads to motor paralysis in the patient.

She reportedly felt unwell on the day of the crime and needed medical attention.

“Doctors diagnosed her with ALS. She can no longer move, she is bedridden at home and now we are waiting to see if we can release oxygen for her,” said Simone Teles, Leila’s aunt.

Preventive detention

On Friday (17) at the guardianship hearing, Judge Juliana Miranda Pagano of the TJMG (Court of Minas Gerais) ordered the preventive detention of the suspect. In the decision, the judge states that the author has already survived violence, and for this reason preventive detention is justified.

“Repeated contact of a patient with the criminal justice system is a justifiable reason for temporary caution, since one cannot lose sight of the fact that one of the purposes of segregation in the procedural-cognitive phase is precisely to ensure public order, and such a guarantee consists of preventing the offender from re-offending “, – gives the decision.

The case is being handled by Delegate Ligia Mantovani from the Specialized Police Homicide Unit. Next Monday (20) witnesses in the case will be questioned at the police station.

Funeral

Leila’s body was buried on Friday. She would have turned 24 on December 5th. In addition to family, friends, clients and work colleagues came to say goodbye to the manicurist. Some of the group paid tribute to the young woman by wearing a white shirt with her photo on it.

“She was very good at her job and never missed a beat. Leila helped us a lot. He took very good care of us. The bosses really liked her. We were very pleased with what we heard from them,” recalls the aunt.
