This Monday important work began on Rua Ararangua in Blumenau (13). As a result, work is being carried out in the southern part of the city to carry out the work.
According to Semob (Municipal Works Department), macro-drainage aims to address the historical problem of flooding caused by flash floods.
The work includes the laying of a new pipeline along a section of approximately 900 meters between Bento José da Silva and Barbacena streets. However, due to the complexity of the work ahead, the work was divided into two stages.
Semob stressed that the separation is being done in such a way that the impact on community mobility is as small as possible.
Traffic on Rua Ararangua will be blocked.
According to the secretariat, in this first phase of work, excavations begin near Rua Bento José da Silva and continue for approximately 300 meters until they reach Capela Santa Luzia.
During this period, access will be closed to traffic and residents will therefore have to use the access via Alberto Pamplona, Valença and Engeneiro Odebrecht streets as an alternative route before returning to Rua Amazonas.
The Maintenance Department will be responsible for ensuring that alternate roads are able to accommodate the traffic that will use those streets. SMTT (Municipal Traffic and Transport Authority) has included new bus schedules to better serve residents.
The Department of Education, in turn, acts as an intermediary with local schools and kindergartens to ensure that students and professionals do not suffer from inconvenience caused by the work.
Works Minister Dirk Reiter stressed that the departments are working together with the company and the Residents’ Association to ensure everyone understands the importance of the work carried out on site.
“But mainly so that common understanding prevails, since this is not an easy and fast job. There will be setbacks and challenges, but we are focused on delivering value to this community as quickly as possible,” Reiter added.
Special voluntary transfer program
The macro-drainage of Rua Ararangua involves an investment of R$7 million to improve the rainwater drainage system and pave the road section.
The work was made possible thanks to resources from the state government under the TEV (Special Voluntary Transfer) program.
As part of the same program, important work has resumed on other streets in Blumenau. In addition, some of them have already been completed, such as the sealing of Casapava Street in the Garcia district and the paving of Walter Berner Street in the Boa Vista district.

Changes in public transport
Due to macro-drainage works, which will result in part of the road being closed in both directions, there will be changes to service times and routes on line 504 (Ararangua). The line will have two routes to serve all passengers in the region.
ABOUT first route departs from Terminal da Fonte towards Rua Ararangua on the route to ESF Glodoaldo Lino de Amorim, passing through Prefeito Frederico Busch Junior and Ricardo Voigt streets; and again we return along Rua Ararangua towards Terminal da Fonte.
Already second route It departs from Terminal da Fonte and follows the streets of Amazonas, Engeneiro Odebrecht, Valença, Alberto Pamplona and Ararangua until its end point, returning along the same route towards Terminal da Fonte.
“Due to changes in traffic in the region and the complete closure of part of Ararangua Street, we have created these new routes to serve passengers, following as close as possible to the starting and ending points of the blockade. The greatest changes occur for passengers who use the transport service after the closing point. However, in the new configuration, the new route will be of interest to everyone,” explained Transport Director Lairto Leite.
SMTT also added 49 flights to the line: 56 flights on weekdays, 38 flights on Saturdays and 12 flights on Sundays and holidays.
The Secretariat also emphasized that it will monitor the changes that will take place from this Monday (13). As a result, further changes may be made to certain schedules to ensure passengers connect at terminals.
In case of new changes, the mayor’s office must inform about the changes in advance.
