The 24-year-old driver died after taking a turn when he lost control of the truck he was driving and overturned on the side of the BR-101 in the Morro Grande area of Sangan, in the south of Santa Catarina. The traffic accident was reported on Wednesday afternoon (8).
The rollover left the driver pinned under the rubble.
The driver was trapped in the wreckage with the panel of the truck holding him by the waist and the pedals holding his legs, the fire department said. Using a crane attached to the chassis, the car was stabilized and accessed through the passenger door.
Firefighters then conducted extrication maneuvers to extricate the victim. A doctor at CCR ViaCosteira, the concessionaire responsible for operating the BR-101 Sul, confirmed the death of the driver.
The area was monitored by the PRF (Federal Traffic Police). Jaguaruna volunteer firefighters also responded to the incident. The driver’s identity has not yet been disclosed.
