The Pico Bridge, which crosses the Cubatan River in Joinville, in the north of Santa Catarina, will be repaired starting next Monday (6). As a result of the parliamentary amendment, 679,000 reais were invested in the work on the site.
The section that will be interrupted is on the João Flute Estrada, which gives access to the Estrada do Pico. The detour is located at the intersection of Estrada Dona Francisco, SC-418 and Estrada do Pico. The Pico Bridge is expected to be closed for 45 days.
At the end of July this year, the Order for the reconstruction of Ponte do Pico was signed. Since then, the company responsible for the work has been producing parts for the new structure, which will be installed from November 6th. This is due to the fact that the wooden structure will be replaced by reinforced concrete.
Changes that will occur during the reconstruction of the bridge
The Pico Bridge is 55 meters long and its current width is 4 meters. As a result of the work, its width will be 5.1 meters. The building will have two lanes for vehicles, a sidewalk for pedestrians and a fence.
In addition, changing the material of the structure, which will now be concrete, will provide greater safety for users and greater capacity for the movement of trucks.
Kiriri Bridge
According to Joinville City Hall, construction is also underway on a new Kiriri Bridge. The foundation of the bridge is currently being laid. The project, with a budget of R$3,999,900, includes two traffic lanes and two sidewalks, each 1.2 meters long, to ensure accessibility.
The structure is being built from reinforced concrete, 60.5 meters long and 8.8 meters wide, which will increase the load capacity and significantly reduce maintenance costs.
