More than twenty people died during the crossing in the last canoe, located south of Tenerife, which contained the lifeless body of a child of about 12 or 13 years old, while the remaining bodies had already been thrown into the sea, reports Emergency services sources told the story of the survivors.

A total of 221 survivors of the more than 240 migrants who sailed from Ghana disembarked at the port of Los Cristianos in southern Tenerife, said the same sources, who indicated that fifteen were evacuated to hospitals and another hundred received care and sanitation at the pier.

The warning about Cayuco was issued by a fishing boat Friday afternoon that reported it was on the wrong course.

It was later discovered 82 miles off the coast of Granadilla de Abona, southern Tenerife, stopped by a Sasemar 101 maritime rescue aircraft.

The Civil Guard patrol boat “Rio Tajo” and the maritime security vessel “Caliope” from Salvamento Maritimo went to the aid of the migrants, whose crew brought them on board at about 11:20 p.m., along with the lifeless body of the deceased child.

Four of those rescued were semi-conscious and were evacuated from the sea rescue ship by Helimer 206 helicopter to Tenerife North Airport.

From the airfield, two of them were transferred to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands, and the other two to the La Candelaria Hospital, 112 reports.

The sea rescue vessel arrived with the remaining survivors at the port of Los Cristianos at 5:25 am this Saturday, where they were treated by members of the Canarian Emergency Service and the Red Cross.

Six of the disembarked migrants were sent to Hospital del Sur in Tenerife due to serious health conditions, and five more to Hospiten Sur. Of the latter, the adult and the minor were later transferred to La Candelaria Hospital.

A hundred more migrants received medical attention at the pier, saying that the canoe had sailed from Gambia and about twenty bodies had been thrown overboard along the way.
