To connect Santa Teresinha and Progresso streets, the Municipal Works Office (Semob) is working to complete the concreting phase of the bridge crossbar in the southern district of Blumenau.
Semoba secretary Dirk Reiter believes the work will be extremely important for the local community, especially as it creates an alternative route in an area that is home to more than 15,000 residents, according to the 2010 demographic census.
Dirk recalls that in 2008 there was a significant landslide in the region, which isolated part of the area from access to Garcia. “The creation of new road connections, such as this bridge, as well as the roundabout between Progresso and Santa Maria streets, are actions aimed at increasing urban mobility and reducing the chances of residents being stranded,” says the minister.
The construction of the bridge involves an investment of 6.3 million reais from the Blumenau City Hall, with resources made possible in partnership with the government of Santa Catarina. According to Semob, the work has been completed a little more than 10% of the physical schedule.
Also in the southern region, two more bridges have recently been built: one in the Progresso area, on Rua Hermann Bacher, replacing the old wooden structure existing at that location; in addition to the new road connection between Anchieta and Paulo Scheidemantel streets, handed over to the population on September 7th.
Iron Bridge
In the Ponta Aguda area, the Aldo Pereira de Andrade Bridge, commonly known as the Iron Bridge, advanced and reached its next stage on August 20: a planal-metric topographic survey.
According to the Municipal Works Department, the service was carried out to obtain data on the size and condition of the bridge, which will be used in preparing the bridge reconstruction project.
3D scanning of the Iron Bridge uses advanced technology using a laser scanner to obtain accurate data about the physical environment of the structure. This technology converts physical data into virtual data, creating a digital 3D model of the structure.
Find out what 3D scanning is
3D structural scanning is a powerful technology that provides a complete and accurate picture of the condition of a bridge, making the inspection process easier and more efficient.
Then, to carry out scanning, it was necessary to block traffic on the Iron Bridge for the duration of the work, which took place from 8:00 to 18:00 on August 20, Sunday.
