The religious Osorio José López Júnior, who was wanted by the PCDF (Civilian Police of the Federal District), was arrested in the early evening of this Thursday (21) in Tocantins. He is the target of the false prophet operation launched on Wednesday (20), in which promises of “blessings” amounting to “one octillion reais” or “350 billion centillion euros” are being investigated.
According to the R7 portal, the believer was taken to the Gurupi police station in the south of the state of Tocantins and cannot be transported.
The Prophet asked for money in exchange for a “blessing”
The false prophet is suspected of scamming people through social networks, in that he gave victims, the vast majority of whom are evangelists, an investment of 25 reais and promised a financial return of 1 octillion reais. Or, if they had invested R$2,000, they would have made a profit of R$350 billion. The investment will be used for humanitarian actions.
In 2018, López Júnior was accused of defrauding believers in Goianesia, Goiás state. ten times the donation amount. During this scam they earned about 15 million reais.
To another investor from São Paulo, Osorio even promised a financial profit of 2 quadrillion reais after depositing 300,000 reais into the account of a religious person, which was fulfilled.
Operation False Prophet
According to the Civil Police, the coup can be considered one of the largest ever investigated in Brazil, since the victims included people from different social classes and from almost all units of the federation, the total number of victims is estimated at more than 50 thousand people.
The group, which includes Osorio, numbers about 200 people, according to an investigation that began about a year ago.
In total, two preventive arrest warrants and 16 search and arrest warrants are currently being served in the Federal District and other constituent entities of the Federation.
