In recent days, the case has rocked Palos in Greater Florianopolis. According to the father of a three-year-old child, his son was beaten by his stepfather because he was “too worried.”

In an exclusive interview with the magazine Portal ND+ This Friday (8), the father reports that a man, whose age has not been disclosed, and the child’s mother, 20 years old, are being held in a pre-trial detention center for torture.

“I work, travel on weekdays and pick up my son on weekends. Last month I picked him up and he had scratches on his back and she [a mãe] He said he was scratched by a cat. Last week when I came to get him again he had scratches, bite marks and bruises. When I asked what happened, he said, ‘It wasn’t my mother or my uncle,'” he says.

According to him, earlier a police report was filed against the boy’s guardians because of the father’s mistrust.

During the interview for the report, excited voices can be heard in the background. This is because the father is accompanying the child, who has been hospitalized at the Joan de Gusmão Children’s Hospital since Tuesday (5) after he was allegedly beaten by his stepfather.

“I think he hit my son because he is a very excitable child. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy,” he says.

Both the father and the child will not be identified under the Children and Young People’s Act.

Mother arrested for torturing child

On Tuesday, a mother was preemptively arrested after taking her son to the UPA in the Bela Vista area of ​​Palosa. At the scene, medical workers discovered the attack and called the police.

The baby had bruises all over his body, including on his head, so he remains in the hospital under observation.

According to Military Police Captain Eduardo Antonio Schwartz, who took the woman from the hospital to the police station, when the team arrived at the scene, they saw very strong symptoms. And he describes that “everyone was in shock.”

“The mother claimed that it was a fall, but this was impossible due to the many burns, bites and bruises. The child constantly asked for a lot of food and was very hungry. We classify this case as torture,” he says.

According to the father, the mother already knew the day before that the boy had been beaten by his stepfather. She was supposed to come home with her friend after getting her nails done and checking on the baby, but decided to take him to treatment just a day after the attack.

“I think she thought her face was going to swell up from what she was saying. But no, that wasn’t the point,” says the father.

The case is being investigated by Dpcami (Department for the Protection of Children, Adolescents, Women and the Elderly) in Palos.

According to the STJ (Superior Court of Justice), the law currently provides for prison sentences ranging from 2 to 8 years for those convicted of torture. If convicted, the mother and stepfather may receive a one-sixth or one-third increase because the victim is a child.
