Florianopolis, in addition to the beaches, has 394 public spaces for coexistence and contemplation. Of these, 250 have received improvements over the past year and a half.

The municipality of Florianopolis, according to the Secretary of Cleaning and Urban Affairs, João da Luz, maintains an ongoing improvement service, which has seven teams working at the same time.

Today, renovation work is underway on two squares on the mainland: Vereador Naguib Jabor in Capoeiras and João Batista Vieira in Jardim Atlantico. Also undergoing renovations are Edson Pereira Nascimento Square on Carlos Loureiro da Luz and the Associação dos Moradores do Córrego Grande, both in Corrego Grande. More teams operate in public areas in Rio Vermelho, Vargem do Bom Jesus, Canasvieiras, Carianos and Tapera.

According to Isabelle Cristina de Jesus, director of civil works for the City Cleaning and Maintenance Department (SMLMU), the municipality has two space maintenance contracts, one to serve the center and mainland, the other for the north, east and south of the city of Santa Catarina Island.

“These are places that offer comfort and coexistence, where people meet again to chat on the weekends, play cards or dominoes. The presence and use of the premises by residents increases the safety of public spaces and prevents vandalism,” Isabelle cheers up.

The focus seems to be on the sports and health movement, she said, as there is a lot of demand for sandy fields, such as those for tennis and volleyball. “The community wants to play sports in their area,” he says.

The improvement of public spaces, the director notes, has renewed interest in adoption from local associations and even companies. The Smpiou (Secretariat of Municipal Planning and Urban Intelligence), upon receipt of the proposal, determines the acceptance model to be applied.

Over 30,000 square meters of recreation area on the mainland

In the past 60 days, the municipal department of cleaning and urban maintenance has revitalized ten squares on the mainland. More than 30 thousand square meters of space have been handed over to the population.

This Thursday (31) the City Hall of Florianopolis handed over the project for the revival of the square and decks of Bom Abrigo.

At Largo do Bom Abrigo, 695 square meters of decks have been refurbished in collaboration with Infrastructure, as well as 1,430 square meters where the following improvements have been made:

• playground renovation
• Inspection and repair of 32 existing banks
• Table service
• laying grass
• Restoration of wires, painting and a new basketball backboard on the sports field
• academy reform

Major infrastructure works progress in Coqueiros

The Municipality of Florianopolis, through the Secretariat of Transport and Infrastructure, is also advancing the revitalization of the Coqueiros Park, so that the services will be completed by September of this month.

After the reconstruction, the park will have two beach tennis courts, a volleyball court and a multifunctional sports field, as well as two football fields (one with synthetic and one with natural turf). Designated for walkers and cyclists, the track will have four lanes repaired, two in each direction, and 40% of the concrete pavement will be replaced and painted. The pet playground will also be updated with new toys.

Even in Coqueiros, the municipality revived another square – this is the Governor José Boabaid Square, located on Desembargador Pedro Silva Street. Works are being carried out on the entire area of ​​the leisure area of ​​9,312.61 m2.

The site now has an internal walkway with two pavilions, benches, game tables and a trash can that connects the gazebo for sea views to the paving plaza (interlaced concrete blocks).

Three sports fields and an outdoor gym were also built. As well as the delimitation of areas for pets and a playground, as well as a wooden deck for access to the beach; revived the path and flower beds; repaired the parking lot and rebuilt the gazebo, which has a new platform, two gazebos, benches and fences. Like the ruins of an old fish-salting facility, which marks the history of this place, it has received an information totem.

Skate park on the mainland

Another important investment in the region, around 4.6 million reais, is the transformation of Abraan Park, the second largest on the continent (with a total area of ​​17,888 m2, second only to Coqueiros Park), into the first Skate Park in the region with the largest skate park. playground/park in the city.

There will be two skate parks on site: a 1,355.90 m² park/bowl – larger than the largest existing one in Florianópolis, which is currently located in the Costaira do Pirajjubae Skate Park on the island, with an area of ​​1,144 m² – and skate street with an area of ​​744.90 m². m2, with stands.

The entertainment complex will also have food stalls and recreation areas, while the gym and walking paths will be retained. Today, the natural terrain will have a concrete floor with bike lane markings.

More places to stay in Lagoa da Conceicao

Back in August, the Secretariat for Transport and Infrastructure began a new phase of work to revive the Ponta do Pitoco in Lagoa da Conceicão. After the installation of the construction site and the closure of the facility, for the safety of the population, work began on draining the site. The proposal is to expand the recreation areas and provide accessibility around Lagoa da Conceicao.

In addition, the preparation of a land plot for the installation of sidewalks, as well as marking the positions of equipment in a public space, began. Residents will have access to a beach tennis court, pet area, gym and playground with inclusive equipment.
