The theft with a curious plot was recorded by the civilian police in Laurentino, in Alto Vale do Itajai. It all happened this Monday afternoon (10) and the 19-year-old suspect in the action was arrested at the scene of the crime and sent to the regional prison of Rio do Sul.

According to police, an unidentified man entered a house in the central Laurentino district, jumped over a wall, stole a gas bottle, and then fled with the item. When the owner of the house arrived at the site, she would have seen the invader leave the place.

According to civilian police officer Neri Baldo, the woman was returning from a maternity hospital with a newborn baby when she stumbled upon the scene. The victim’s husband then called the civilian police, giving the suspect’s characteristics, which were crucial for him to approach in close proximity to the house, but without the stolen canister.

“The mistress of the house came from the hospital with a newborn son and saw the audacity of the criminal and his escape. (…) Delivered to the police station and using scientific methods of interrogation, the offender gave a confession, indicating where her mother’s gas cylinder was hidden, which was soon discovered and returned to her,” said a civilian police officer.

The persons involved in this case were taken to the Rio do Sul police station for the relevant procedures. At the police station, police chief Juliano Tumitam was arrested at the scene of a crime against a 19-year-old teenager for theft. He was sent to the regional prison of Rio do Sul and remains at the disposal of justice.
