Many animal species are highly suspicious of snakes, including lions. This group of cats were scared away by the black mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis), the largest venomous snake in Africa. The video shows black mambas, which can be over 4.3 meters long, invading where they were.
As soon as they noticed the presence, they became frightened and ran away in order not to be stung, as black mambas can produce a very strong neuro- and cardiotoxic poison, capable of killing a lion in an hour. Information taken from the AZ-Animals website.
Problems for lions and humans
But not only the black mamba can cause problems in animals and humans. Another candidate is the Mozambique spitting snake, common in tropical and subtropical Africa. The poison can cause blindness and severe tissue damage.
In addition to these, the viper (Bitis ariens) can also inflict serious bites on lions – and humans! The viper is agile, found in many African regions, and has very long fangs.
