Last Saturday (27) a two month old baby died of asphyxiation in Navegantes, on the north coast of Santa Catarina. Despite all medical resuscitation, the child died in the hospital.
The Navegantes military fire department was called to respond to airway obstruction (choking) in a 2-month-old baby.
When firefighters arrived at the house, no one was found. The family would have already taken the child to the 8 lifeguard post on Gravata beach in Navegantes. Rescuers were already in place behind the child, carrying out resuscitation.
The firemen tried to save the child
The garrison claimed responsibility by examining the victim and finding a cardiac arrest. Two cycles of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) were performed, from 15 heart compressions for two ventilations to the installation of an AED (automatic external defibrillator) to monitor the child already in the fire department car.
During the trip to the hospital, support was requested from SAMU (Mobile Emergency Service), but the child again had a stop. Arriving at the hospital in Navegantes, the baby was handed over to the medical team already waiting for him, however, despite all efforts, the child died.
