The City Hall of Blumenau in Vale do Itajaí announced last Thursday (25) the termination of a contract with a company that will build a new convention center in the Velha area. The decision is due to non-compliance with the agreed deadlines, according to the government.
According to works secretary Michael Maiocchi, the pace of work was much slower than contracted for. A new company will be selected to carry out the work as it currently exists.
“We found that throughout this period there was no obligation on the part of the company to meet the deadlines set in the schedules. This culminated in the decision to terminate the contract and now to conduct a new tender, ”the secretary said in an interview with the publication NDTV.
The works had a deadline of 12 months after the signing of the service order, which occurred in June 2022. It is assumed that with the end of the current contract and the launch of a new tender, the center will be delivered only next year.
“Unfortunately, we had to make the decision to terminate it, as what was agreed in the contract was not respected, especially with regard to timing,” Mayor Mario Hildebrandt said.
