A man and a woman were found dead in the garage of their house this Friday afternoon (26) in Rua Reinaldo João dos Santos Corona, in the Pinheiros section, in the Pinheirinho area, in Chapeco, west of Santa Catarina.
The victims, he is 45 and she is 43, have not yet released their names, but according to the military police, they have been together for about 12 years.
The crime is suspected to have taken place between last night and early afternoon this Friday, when the bodies were found, according to police. The family dog was also dead next to the couple, likely from suffocation, police said.
Police said the woman had stab wounds to the head and neck and the man was allegedly hanged. The woman still had the knife stuck in her neck. Details on how the deaths may have occurred are not available and will be investigated.
The couple were taken to the civilian police station the night before due to the fight. The woman did not consider it necessary to take protective measures against her husband, the prime minister said.
According to the witness, the couple agreed that the man would leave the house. “It is believed that the man went to the residence to collect his belongings and took advantage of the fact that he was alone and committed a crime,” the military police added.
The house where the crime took place was isolated, and the Scientific Police asked the civilian police to start an investigation. The police did not provide any information about what could have caused the death.
