On Monday afternoon (17) two men were arrested red-handed by the civilian police in Azcurra, in the valley of Itajai. According to the corporation, the duo were arrested for drug trafficking, association for drug trafficking and dangerous driving. They tried to escape from the garrison, but were eventually arrested with drugs.
According to the corporation, the police were informed about two men who will transport drugs through the city of Azcurra, more precisely along the BR-470 towards the Estaçao area, in Morro do Amandio.
The police attempted to approach the suspects in the vehicle, but fled shortly thereafter. Afterwards, they returned to the city center with the intention of reaching the BR-470, which sparked an intense chase through the city streets. However, in the end they were detained in Morro do Amadio.
However, according to the corporation, during the escape, the men drove at high speed against the path, endangering people’s lives. They even threw the drugs out of the car window, but the material was found and seized by the civilian police.
The men were found to have about 250 grams of marijuana, divided into two pieces and in different packages, which were probably intended for sale. Also confiscated was a mobile phone and a car in which drugs were transported.
The civil police stressed that one of those involved was convicted in 2019 of drug trafficking in Ascurra. He was sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison and is currently serving his sentence in an open regime due to the progression of the regime.
The couple were arrested and taken to the civilian police station to draw up an arrest warrant at the crime scene, after which they were immediately sent to the Blumenau Regional Prison for a custody hearing.
