An electric iron caused a fire at a clothing factory in Blumenau

Firefighters from Blumenau in the Itajai Valley were called to a curious event this Wednesday morning (5) on Rua Engenheiro Paul Werner in the Itupawa-Seca area. When the first employees arrived at work, they soon realized something was wrong.

When they entered the factory, they saw a burning ironing board. The electric iron would not have been turned off the night before and would have heated a shirt that had turned to ash all night.

According to information received by NDTV at the scene, no one was hurt, although there was a lot of panic. Three fire trucks were involved in the incident, causing only minor property damage.

According to one of the factory owners, who chose not to record the interview, this is the first time such an accident has occurred at the plant, which has been operating at the facility for 20 years. Firefighters say it’s a good idea to automate electrical equipment with timers to turn it on and off to avoid this kind of accident.
