Despite being located in the upscale Itajai area, close to important tourist attractions in the city, the craft container was seized and stolen last Wednesday (8). Surveillance cameras in the Historical Museum recorded the actions of the criminal.
In addition to 1,000 reais in cash, the suspect also took belongings and T-shirts, as well as damaging a place dedicated to the city’s artisans, where many of them make their living.
“I do it because I love it and not based on how much I earn, I have been working with crafts in Itajai for over 20 years,” Antonia Padilla said.
The stolen T-shirts were found 2 kilometers from a container abandoned at a gas station. Surveillance cameras did not record the actions of the suspect, whose identity has not yet been established.
“We found that our container was broken, the glass door was torn off, the locks were broken and bent, T-shirts and envelopes were stolen by half of the craftsmen who work here,” says Eliete Rodriguez.
The community is now asking the Itajai Municipal Guard to increase the security of the site. Team NDTV contacted GM but no response until this Monday (13th).
