Two friends were looking for a place on the beach to drink coconut water in peace when one of them was attacked and part of her finger was blown off. The English website The Mirror reports that the story was witnessed by a powerful man and former Olympic fencer who was a friend of the victim. It was she who told this story to the world.
Monica Sozanska, 39, was shocked to see how an unidentified woman bit off her 42-year-old friend’s middle finger with half of her fingernail on the island of Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand.
The confusion began when they were looking for an empty spot on the beach to drink coconut water when they spotted an empty bean bag next to a couple nearby.
“It was 13:30 on a Saturday when my dog and I [da minha amiga] we were looking for a place at Koh Raham Beach Club to enjoy a fresh coconut,” he says.
And continues:
“Then we noticed an empty bean bag next to a young couple and decided to give it a try. So, the woman scorned the friendly request of my friend to stay where she was,” she says.
Sozanskaya then explained that the woman, who allegedly was Russian, attacked her friend, her and the dog before the friend began to defend herself.
After the initial attack, the woman briefly disappeared, but returned even more angry.
“She grabbed my friend by the hand and bit her. Then she spat out the bitten phalanx and smiled. Blood spattered. It was like a scene from a horror movie!”
While Monica tried to bury her fingertip in the sand and comfort her friend, the couple tried to escape. However, they were immediately seized by nearby police.
When approached, the couple said that they only had copies of their passports and that they needed to go to the hotel to get the originals. Before the police could figure it out, the attackers fled the scene.
Meanwhile, a woman who had part of her finger torn off went to the city hospital to try to save her hand from an infection and more serious problems.
“Doctors are now trying to save the finger and avoid amputation with a special procedure called bandaging,” concludes the former athlete.
