A 40-year-old worker died in a coal mine accident recorded on Thursday afternoon (19). It happened in Treviso, in the south of Santa Catarina. The man worked as a mechanic at the enterprise.
According to Saer (Civilian Police Air Service), the accident at work occurred about 5 km from the entrance to the mine. He was rescued by the company’s internal crew, the fire department, Samu and Saer, but succumbed to his injuries.
Death was confirmed on the spot. In a note, Carbonífera Metropolitana expressed regret over what happened and said that it had already launched an internal investigation to determine the causes of the accident. He also said in a statement that he would support the competent authorities.
