“Commander Leandro was very nice, he always treated everyone with equal respect, he was playful, happy. I’ve always come here to the fire department, following orders in the best possible way. Always attentive, didn’t have time, always responded and served the community. Unfortunately, we lost him, but he left a great legacy. He did a lot for Arakvari.”

These words belong to Paulo’s colleague Roberto Nascimento and summarize the trajectory of 45-year-old Leandro Rodriguez, commander of the Araquari Volunteer Fire Department, who died on Tuesday (age 30) in Guaramirim.
Leandro’s body was found around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at a plant under construction on the Itapocu River, in the Guamiranga area, in an area known as Salto. Conducted individual training with the company. The probable cause of death is drowning.
The Araquari Volunteer Fire Brigade Association deeply regrets the death of a commander who joined the corporation in 2008.
During his 14 years with the organization, he was responsible for coordinating and training junior and novice firefighters; team leader (2010); instructor (2014) and in 2017 became commander.
In his first year in office, he promoted a volunteer firefighter training course. Leandro Rodriguez was born on November 24, 1976. He was survived by his wife and three daughters.
