Ranked as the second smartest city in the country by Connected Smart Cities 2021, Florianopolis is today a benchmark in mobility, economy and education. The quality of life also guaranteed the city an HDI (human development index) of 0.847, the highest among Brazilian capitals according to the Brazilian Human Development Atlas. Policies, actions and local businesses help Santa Catarina’s capital stay ahead of trends in innovation, wealth, urbanism, social and economic development.
Focusing on the implementation of projects that connect people with the city and allow people to buy time, moments to take care of themselves, with family and friends, the builder and developer Milano is collaborating for this development of Florianopolis, bringing together proposals such as Milan City, for example, business, services and gastronomy in one place. This project pioneered this segment in Greater Florianopolis and changed the concept of housing in the region.
Gastronomy and services

Opened in 2019, Pátio Milano, a shopping center for gastronomy and services located in this complex, has brought to the city the concept of food halls, spaces that make these meetings possible and allow people to spend time together in a unified environment. In other words, they provide convenience, comfort and speed with the ability to enjoy different types of cuisine.
“Milan creates projects that are in line with people’s lifestyles and demonstrate optimization and the value of time. In this context, the freedom of choice is one of the prerequisites for the development of the group’s projects, which contributes to the economy and growth of the city,” emphasizes Eduarda Tonietto, Product Director of Milano.
Next year, Milano plans to build two mixed-use projects, including residential and commercial areas. Projects located in Beira mar Norte and Campeche bring the city even closer to the daily life of the people, the Milano trademark, explains Eduarda. “We believe that our projects should be ideal for those who use them, for those who live, for those who invest, and for society,” explains the director.
Sustainability in people’s daily lives
Milan’s projects encourage sustainable development in people’s daily lives. These are simple approaches, but they make a difference when practiced collectively,” Eduarda Tonietto explains.

In the Cidade Milano project, for example, in a residential tower there is a system aimed at sorting and recycling garbage, as well as structures that store rainwater for cleaning common areas.
Also, in residential and commercial towers, the complex reserves ecological parking spaces that allow recharging electric vehicles. The glass windows installed throughout the structure are highly efficient and offer technologies that minimize solar heat in the premises, thus reducing the consumption of refrigeration equipment and energy use.
Reuse of resources at Fuso Hotel
The Fuso Hotel, Milan’s most recent development in the capital, prioritizes sustainability in its architectural design and uses natural elements found on the ground in its structure, emphasizes Eduarda. The hotel has its own wastewater treatment plant, and the green roofs found in all bungalows act as temperature regulators.
“In the bungalow, we replaced the service guide and printed menus with a tablet. Our products (cosmetics) are offered in “dispensers”, which makes it possible to avoid the generation of waste from individual packages,” explains the director. Guests receive complimentary filtered water in sterilized glass bottles. All drinks sold are made of glass or aluminium, and branded minibar snacks are packaged in sealed returnable bottles.
