Pedestrian access to the Walter Lange Marine Park in South Bay will be given a pedestrian crossing and traffic lights.
The installation, carried out by the Municipality of Florianopolis through the Department of Mobility and Urban Planning, is an emergency measure claimed by the rowers and members of the three clubs installed at the site where the third leg of the Modal State Championship will take place this Sunday (21).

The traffic light will have a timer that stops traffic when pedestrians are triggered. Zena Becker, public-private partnership coordinator at PMF, says this is another opportunity to encourage sports in the city.
“Rowing is a sport that follows the history of Florianopolis and continues to be of great cultural importance to the city. This is an opportunity to make sure that more people have access to the sport and the marine park in general,” says Zena.
The municipality is considering investing in a footbridge, an alternative considered ideal for the safety of marine park users.
