The long-awaited revival of the Coqueiros promenade in Florianopolis began this week. The city began work by driving concrete and timber piles that will form part of the Praia do Rizo deck structure. In the coming days, according to the mayor’s office, the construction site should be expanded.

“Services that will provide the region with extensive recreational infrastructure with an investment of 7 million reais will also be provided in parallel on Saudade and Mayo beaches. Three baths are continuous, with a total length of 770 meters, ”the city hall of the capital reported.

Sometime in the 1960s-1980s, the spa next door was the most popular in the city, but at that time the beach was still swimmable and attracted many people. The bustle expanded as the sun went down over the bars in the area.

According to Mayor Topazio Neto, “the revitalization of the Coqueiros promenade will encourage the local population to further contemplate the natural beauties of this beautiful area of ​​the city.”

Florianopolis Infrastructure Minister Valter Gallina agreed with the mayor and added: “This retraining, in addition to boosting residents’ self-esteem, will improve economic development.”

Some of the highlights of the project are the new decks with metal railings and stairs to access the beach. According to the municipality, “the decks will be intermittent precisely so as not to inconvenience passers-by on their way to shore on high tide days.”

A landscaping project will also be carried out on the embankment with planting grass in flowerbeds around palm trees, as well as planting shrubs and ornamental trees. Another novelty is the implementation of raised walkways in the walkways ahead of the edge for deck access.

There are also plans to revitalize the shallow sidewalks along the beaches and install outdoor furniture, including backless wooden benches and trash cans. “The pergola plazas that exist today at waterfront level, on the beaches of Riso and do Meio, will be preserved as they are because they are in good structural condition,” the city said.

The work will be carried out by the STC contractor Serviços de Terraplanagem e Construção Ltda. and should be completed by March next year.
