Two women, one from Santa Catarina and the other from Rio Grande do Sul, were arrested last Tuesday (7th) at Aluisio Alves International Airport in São Gonçalo do Amarante, in the Greater Natal region. Federal police made a crime scene arrest for interstate drug dealing, finding that their suitcases contained 54.5kg of marijuana. The duo were transferred to the Rio Grande do Norte state prison system on Wednesday (8).
The arrest was made during a scheduled police check with dogs to detect drugs in the arrivals hall of the airport’s domestic flights. Four suitcases from Navegantes, South Carolina were found, the contents of which are considered suspicious. At that time, they were immediately separated. Once the owners were identified, they were taken to the federal police.
Inside the bags were the contents of four tape-wrapped packages containing 68 tablets of the drug. According to the information of the Federal Police, the material was disguised between the garments.
During the interrogation, the women said that they liked the man, whose name is unknown. They met at a bus stop in Florianopolis, paid for the tickets and promised a bonus of 2,000 reais if they delivered their bags to Natal, where they would be looked for as soon as they arrived.
