A technology hub and global benchmark in the region, Florianópolis today has more than 3,900 companies in the sector that accumulate revenues of R$10 billion per year, which, according to Acate (Santa Catarina Technology), represents 15% of the city’s GDP. Association).

According to the company, by 2025, 34 thousand new vacancies will be created in this segment of the state, half of them in Greater Florianopolis. To meet this demand, Florianópolis City Hall is investing in the skills and training of workers through the Floripa Mais Tec program.

The initiative is open for registration and provides training to disadvantaged children and young students, as well as market and career opportunities for adults.

The program is offered through a partnership between the City Hall of Florianópolis, Senai (National Industrial Training Service), Fiesc (SC Industry Federation), Sebrae-SC (Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service) and Acate (Technological Association of Santa Catarina). ).

“Thanks to the alliance of government authorities and partners, we are creating incentives for children to be interested in technology from childhood. The possibility of changing areas for adults is also a way of increasing the supply of specialists for a sector that is one of the sectors most in need of skilled labor in the city. Floripa Mais Tec opens the door to a horizon full of possibilities,” emphasizes Topasio Neto, Mayor of Florianópolis.

Also, according to the municipality, in addition to awakening the population to careers focused on this field, the program includes digital literacy for adults, awareness-raising among students and teachers in the last grades of primary school in the municipal government network and vocational training focused on market trends, skills and tools used by IT sector professionals.

“This is a great opportunity to gain knowledge about technology. During an exciting journey, you can learn from renowned professionals about current issues in this field,” adds Giuliano Richter Pires, Executive Secretary for Economic Development, Science and Technology.

Aulão do Futuro and Hackaton are planned for 2023

According to the capital’s mayor’s office, the project involves well-known professionals from the world of technology, who explain the details of the project during an event called Aulão do Futuro, introductory courses in technology depending on the level of knowledge and the direction of development paths. Technology training with live classes, hands-on exercises and various challenges offered to participants.

There are also technology training courses available, depending on each participant’s performance profile.

In 2023, Floripa Mais Tec events planned for children, in addition to the future class, include a Hackathon and prizes. Initiatives such as Digital Literacy, Summit, Jornada Única, student selection and entrepreneurship guidance will be implemented for youth and adults.

One hundred lectures will also be held in schools across the city, delivering content that awakens people to the world of technology.

The implementation of the program includes a number of innovative tools and initiatives, all of which are aimed at promoting technology education and training professionals prepared to solve the challenges of the digital world.

Among these tools, labtec stands out, a space dedicated to hands-on and interactive learning. With a proposal to accommodate 25 students per class, the site will offer intensive technology immersion, one lesson per school year, in both mornings and afternoons. Each school will have eight classrooms, for a total of 28 participating schools.

Floripa Mais Tec Summit

One of the highlights of Floripa Mais Tec will be the Summit, which promises to gather an audience of a thousand young people and adults. The event will take place in person in Senai in Greater Florianopolis and will be complemented by online lectures, opening the doors of learning to an even wider audience.

Participants will enjoy a full range of experiences including food, immersive interactions via 360° technology and virtual reality goggles, and themed spaces full of engaging lectures and workshops. Workshops are also planned to improve employability. The summit will feature companies represented at stands, which will enrich the participants’ experience with ideas and direct opportunities in the technology sector.

In 2022, more than 10 thousand people registered in the program. 3,700 people took part in Aulão do Futuro. The action also covered 1,573 people undergoing vocational training and affected more than 20 thousand citizens during the year.

National Smart City Award

Floripa Mais Tec was also one of the winners of InovaCidade 2023. The Santa Catarina project aims to stimulate technological learning and train new professionals in the field. The national award was presented in Sao Paulo last week. Of the 106 registered projects, Capital was one of 32 finalists.

This award, given by the Smart Cities Institute of Latin America, recognizes initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of life in cities with a positive, measurable impact recognized by society, carried out by public administration, private initiatives or civil society organizations.

Encouragement from learning

Also, through Floripa Mais Tec, final grade students of the Florianópolis municipal network participate in the “Jornada Kids” project offered in school divisions. The goal, according to the municipal administration, is to stimulate children’s technology education, helping to develop the necessary skills for the jobs of the future.

Last year, services were provided to 34 schools as part of this campaign. 3081 students and 74 teachers were trained at 111 lectures. Aulão do Futuro was attended by 3,702 people.

The project also involved 3,500 people aged 14 years and older, who were able to “immerse” themselves in the world of technology and prepare for the professions of the future for free and in a practical way.
