Tech company Doare held an NFT (non-fungible token) auction in May 2022 featuring illustrations of important women in history by Manu Cuñas of Santa Catarina.
Doare is a fintech (technology company) that has raised money for eight non-governmental organizations dedicated to women’s rights. 20 illustrations by Manu Kuñas, winner of the Jabuti Award for Illustration in 2017.
The works depict such personalities as singer Elsa Soares, artist Frida Kahlo, aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart and others.
Those who participated in the auction, which began March 31, 2022 and ended last Monday (30), had an immersive experience being able to walk through the metaverse without the need for VR goggles.

Meet Manu Kunyas
Born in Tubarao, Manu Cuñas received his degree in Graphic Design from Udesc (University of Santa Catarina State), where he taught for a short time. She currently teaches drawing classes and works as a freelance designer and illustrator, with a particular focus on editorial projects.
The artist is the author of four crowdfunded books and an illustrator for many of them. Manu’s first catharsis was from the book “Como diz meu gato”, which collected “Guide to Cat Care”, and the second was “Outras Meninas”, which won the Jabuti award for illustration in 2017.
Manu also illustrated the art book Random: Free Women, Controversial Nipples.
Her latest publication was Body of Yoga, co-created with anti-dordorphobia activist teacher Van Joda. The work includes digital and traditional painting with ink, gouache and watercolor.
