The future will have to wait a little longer, at least for Frenchman Frankie Zapata. He created the “flyboard”, a device similar to a flying skateboard but allowing you to hover while flying with a device attached to your feet. A futuristic inventor, he himself decided to demonstrate his device in Biscarosse, France. It was bad, but it got on the Internet.
As soon as he took off, at the edge of the lake you could see that something was wrong, as the plane began to turn. See what happened in the video below:
If not for the lake, Zapata would certainly not be alive to solve the flying skateboard problem. The French inventor spiraled up before diving into the lake.
The video was filmed by a local resident who identified himself as Alexander Devignes. He told Storyful’s YouTube channel that there was a malfunction or bug that resulted in “unstoppable spin”.
“Fortunately, Zapata managed to fall into deep water, as it could be concrete, solid,” he said.
Zapata said on Twitter that he was “doing well”. He thanked the rescuers and added that “you can only learn from these mistakes. He is known as the first person to successfully cross the English Channel on a “jet-powered flyboard”.
