During the presidential debate this Sunday (16) on the open television channel, President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and presidential candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) pledged not to implement “no proposal” that discusses a possible increase in the number of ministers of the STF (Supreme federal court).
The idea was proposed by Palacio do Planalto’s allies to increase the number of seats from 11 to 15 to 17 and a majority in Bolsonaro’s government in the event of a possible re-election. Information from Wall.
“A commitment has been made on my part, there will be no proposals, since I have never studied this issue in detail,” Bolsonaro said in response to a question from journalist Vera Magalhaes.
Bolsonaro said on the 7th that he already had this proposal in hand and that he would have replied that “I only discuss it after the elections.”
“Not Democratic”
The PT candidate, when asked about the choice of STF candidates, said it was “undemocratic” for the president to want to have “friends” in court.
“You don’t appoint a Supreme Court judge to vote for you. The Minister of the Supreme Court should have a curriculum, should have a history,” said PT. “The attempt to force the Supreme Court to appoint a friend, a comrade, a guerrilla is a failure that the Brazilian Republic already knows about.”
