Runner-up candidates Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) completed their agenda this Saturday (8) in Para and Sao Paulo respectively.
Bolsonaro participated in the Sirio de Nazare river procession in Belen (Pennsylvania). The participation of the current President in the event was noted in the official agenda of the President of the Republic. Lula campaigned in the city of Campinas (SP).
In the river procession of Sirio de Nazare in Belém, the incumbent followed on a warship that also carried an image of Our Lady of Nazaré and made no press statement. He arrived in the capital of Para on Friday evening (7) when he was greeted at the airport by hundreds of supporters.
After broadcasting their traditional live back on Friday, via social media, the president attended the 23rd edition of SuperNorte, an event organized by Aspas (Association of Super Mercadists of the State of Para).
During a visit to Campinas (SP), Luis Inacio Lula da Silva stated that the democratic debate is part of the solution to the problems the country is facing. In that sense, he said he sought dialogue with groups that did not support him.
For the candidate, education, science and technology will be fundamental to the development and reorganization of the national industry. He also said that Brazil has a lot to gain from saving trees, not cutting them down.
Lula stated that in order to preserve the identity of the traditional peoples, he would create an MPO (Ministry of Indigenous Peoples) and that there would be an indigenous representative at the head of the Funai (National Indian Foundation). “The health of indigenous peoples can also be taken care of by indigenous people, since many of them have already been trained,” he said.
“No one needs to cut down a tree in the Amazon to plant or raise livestock. We have over 30 million hectares of degraded rangelands. We must restore this area. Instead of cutting down trees, we will make money on their conservation, because low-carbon agriculture allows Brazil to receive assistance from other countries.”
Speaking about another ministry he intends to create, the ministry of culture, Lula said that there will be a committee for culture in every capital of the country. “Culture should be understood as an exclusive industry that creates jobs and distributes income. The culture needs to work again,” he said, asking his constituents not to fall for provocations on the streets and to be vigilant in exposing the lies spread on social media.”
The candidate also stated that the solution of current problems requires a dialogue that only democracy can provide. “I talked to everyone. With economists from different parties and from different universities, not least because the art of running this country and the decision will not be the work of one person or one party,” he said.
