The TSE (Higher Electoral Court) announced this Wednesday (21) that among the 27,000 candidates for the 2022 elections, more than 400 eligible candidates have declared themselves disabled.

A total of 476 candidates were officially registered as people with some form of disability, and another 28 were denied registration.
Among all entries (rejected or not) TSE:
- 53% said they have some physical handicap;
- 23.37% indicated some visual impairment;
- 11.99% stated that they have some hearing impairment;
- 2.64% said they were on the autism spectrum.
This Wednesday marks the Day of the Fight for People with Disabilities, established in 2005 by Law No. 11133/2005, which aims to remind of the importance of developing means of integration for people with disabilities.
