Boris Johnson has been accused of lying “again” after claiming to have built more public housing in London than any other mayor.
The prime minister boasted last week when he announced a new housing policy for the government.
Johnson said he built more social housing in London than his predecessor Ken Livingstone and current mayor Sadiq Khan.
Speaking in Blackpool, Johnson, the mayor from 2008 to 2016, told reporters: “Remember, if anyone asks about public housing, I know I’ve built more public housing than labor mayors past and present.”
However, Mayor Khan responded by stating that his administration has built more houses than ever “since the record began.”
According to Kahn, the construction of parliamentary buildings is now at its highest level since the 1970s, and the construction of public access housing is also at record levels.
Deputy Mayor Tom Copley, meanwhile, said that Khan has always offered far more houses in London than Johnson “in any year of his mayor.”
A spokesman for the Mayor of London said:
“The truth is that Sadik continued to oversee the Sacrebro family’s construction revival in the capital. Last year, more than any public housing started in London since 1979, with Boris Johnson and above. I was mayor for 8 years.
“Sadik guarantees that new housing will be built in all districts. This is possible for more Londoners and the finish is at its highest level for a decade. This is Brexit, achieved in the context of a pandemic and the most anti-London government in history.
“The Mayor has put off the little things to the Prime Minister and instead urges him to recognize progress in London that can be used as a model to build the homes the country urgently needs.”
Charityful Fact also reflected another statement made by the Prime Minister in a speech in Blackpool: office. ”
However, they said this was not true, “There is no generally agreed definition of affordable housing, but in general, according to the British government, affordable built over 13 years of labor dominance. The number of affordable homes is not over yet, more higher than a year later”.
The full fact reads: “In the 13 years from 1997/98 to 2009/10, 557,217 new affordable homes were completed in the UK, according to the Balance, Housing and Community sector.
“This is well above the total number completed in 2010/11 (61,089), or later. The highest price was recorded in the UK with 65,959 new affordable homes completed in 2014/15. It was a year.
I asked for a comment on number 10.
