The MPSC (Ministry of State of Santa Catarina) on Monday (6) released a news de facto to ask why the deputy mayor of Balneario Camboriu, Carlos Humberto Metzner da Silva (PL), did not take over the city hall during the holiday of the mayor, Fabrizio Oliveira (Podemos) although it is located in the municipality.

The investigation is based on the Organic Law of Balneario Camboriu, which provides that “a vice mayor may not refuse to replace the mayor under pain of termination of his powers.”
According to factual news, Carlos Humberto asked for a leave of absence from the municipal government. Because the mayor also asked to be allowed to take on “family obligations”, according to the mayor’s office, the position has been temporarily handed over to city council president Gelson Rodriguez (citizenship).
Carlos Humberto is the state’s candidate and, as provided by the election law, cannot take the post of mayor six months before the election. The deadline for this was April 2, as elections are held on October 2.
Prosecutor Jean-Michel Forest approached the President of the Chamber for information, asking if there were requests for licenses and dismissals from both the vice president and the mayor. Carlos Umberto asks if he was really absent and why.
As for the acting mayor, the prosecutor asks if he “knows the reasons why the vice mayor does not replace the mayor when he is removed.” He also asks the city prosecutor’s office about who the real mayor of Balneario Camboriu is and “does they know why the deputy mayor refused to replace the mayor.”
On Instagram, Carlos Umberto posted a video saying he reported the removal to the legislature between June 6 and 16. He also stated that the questions about the license are “harassment” and are motivated by the “left”. “It’s not the noise of the left, the evil gang […] It scares me,” he said.
